RAIN OUT INFORMATIONSome of the parks departments have rain out information lines...
*Just because the Rain-Out lines report that a field is closed does not mean that your game has been cancelled. Coaches may decide to move to another open field that "holds up" better so we're stuck just planning to go to the field to double-check unless you hear from the coach. Perhaps your coach can give you a better indication of his/her willingness to move games or whether you can rely on the rain-out lines. "Is there a way to look up on the website if a game is cancelled? I usually go straight from work to the games and don't go home......so if the coach calls saying the game is cancelled I have no way of knowing. Any thoughts?" Unfortunately supplying the rain out information on the web is not likely. This site is manually maintained. Many times, especially on school fields, the decision is not made until both coaches and the umpire decide that the field is not safe to play on. At this point, they may decide to move to another field. Rescheduled games affect things like pitcher eligibility, not to mention normal life and non-baseball (is there such a thing?) activities so if the game can be moved it's often a good choice, despite the inconvenience for all concerned. The plan for the day is to play baseball so nothing else is scheduled yet, just make sure you have an umbrella and rain gear at all times. As for a bulletin board sort of arrangement on which the coach could post cancellations...we can't allow an unmonitored board because other, inappropriate, items might be posted. |
